Religion is instrumental to everyday life in Ethiopia

Religion is instrumental to everyday life in Ethiopia, as it has been for centuries. Priests and deacons abound in their often colourful robes, carrying their staffs and ornate crosses that people frequently kiss as they pass. Ethiopian languages are full of references to God, and the calendar’s days of interest are determined largely by religion.

EN ETHIOPIA HAY 4.6 MILLONES DE HUERFANOS

Ethiopia and its Orphan crisis. According to HOPE, there are 4.6 million Orphans in Ethiopia ONLY as a result of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the country. Add to that as a result of war with itsneighbors, displacement, diseases and ethic violence, the number is simply staggering.
THIS is a very sad story that should move Ethiopian Americans into Action to stop an ongoing crime against innocent Ethiopian children in the name adoption.
American Journalist Don Rather has produced a documentary – “Unwanted in America” – which highlights how 9 out of the 30 children adopted from Ethiopia ended up homeless in the streets of Seattle.
The documentary is heartbreaking for all fellow human beings, let alone Ethiopians. The documentary should serve those of us living in Seattle as a wake up call to stop the crime against innocent children. After all, the death of Hana, the young girl who was starved to death in frigid weather by her adopted parents in 2011, is still fresh in our memories.
Seattle, yes, home to many kind-hearted, well-meaning and resourceful Ethiopian Americans should do something to stop an ongoing crime against humanity.
